Membership
Membership in SODAPOJ shall be limited
to the organizations committed to furthering the objectives and
the principles of SODAPOJ and shall consist of any organization,
which meets the criteria for membership. There are three types of
membership:
Honour Members
Honour
Member is any member who is age 50 or over and who has
retired from full-time employment of journalism or who the first
period of association existence has been a member of it
or appointed by
the executive for a period, there will be no obligation on the
part of the executive to confer such privileges and any such
honour must be approved by a majority of the executive.,
Active Member
An individual is eligible to be an Active Member if
he or she is primarily engaged in the gathering, reporting,
writing, editing, photographing, producing or cartooning of news
for dissemination by regularly published, general circulation
newspapers, and newsletters, as well as radio and television
stations news services and others media available to the general
public. Active Members shall have all the rights and privileges of
the Association, including the right to hold office. Neither
members nor their employers shall engage in lobbying or public
relations work relating to environmental issues.
Associate Member
An individual is
eligible to be an Associate Member if he or she does not qualify
to be an Active Member, but, in the majority opinion of the
Executive Committee or its designee will contribute to the
attainment of the objectives of the Society. Associate Members
shall have all the rights and privileges of the Association,
except that they shall not be entitled to vote and hold office.
There is a membership fee paid
annually, which is determined by the Executive committee, Details
