SODAPOJ
is Gender perceptive, flexible, non-political, non partisan,
professional humanitarian organization established for the
Protection of Somali Journalists.
SODAPOJ
was founded in 2004 by a group of Somali Professionals working
together on a humanitarian basis in order to protest and proof
press freedom abuses, train and unite local journalists coupled
with the efforts of the International Community - to the most
disadvantaged in Somali society.
SODAPOJ
founders felt that after a decade of civil strife and anarchy, the
Somali journalists have a deep hunger for security and are ready
to put aside their differences and work for union and the
regaining of their right, So they made a collaboration relation
with Somali well known journalists, living inside the country and
in the Diaspora on how this Association could be established.
SODAPOJ
is at
present the only Somali extensively based organization dedicated
solely to fight for the right of Somali journalists around the
world to report the news openly, Immediately and independently
without fear of reprisal, By reporting and protesting attacks on
individual journalists and countering other specific press freedom
violations throughout the world,
SODAPOJ
mandate include the provision of the required assistance in the
form of development skills to Journalists with the collaboration
of the Somali civil society and the international donor agencies
